We took two of the most traditional ways that people met each other in the beforetimes, happy hour or grabbing a pre-work coffee, and packaged them up in a way that let our freelance talent get introduced to their dream companies in the most interesting way possible.
The IdeaShow hirers that we have great talent, don’t just tell them we do.
In this two-part campaign we showcased talent to their dream companies with experiences that served as a way to meet Upwork talent over a cup of coffee or a beer (because with global talent it’s always five o’clock somewhere. The campaigns were as effective for our sales teams as they were when it came to winning awards.

Wake&Make
We partnered with Red Bay Coffee to create a special high-caffeine roast and had Upwork freelancers design the packaging.
The clever coffee packaging made billboards out of the bags that showcased talent and let businesses scan the packaging to hire them right from Upwork. The coffee was then sent to the talents’ dream companies to get them in front of some amazing opportunities.
We followed this up with a film about the coffee roaster that was made entirely by talent on the Upwork platform. The result was a custom site heroing talent and a film that ended up winning PRWeek’s Best Branded Film award.

We partnered with Upwork client Athletic Brewing to create a custom brew for us and created a happy hour in a box complete with beer, a viewmaster to check out physical talent “reels”, and even a watch where it’s always five o’clock.
The boxes were sent to our talents’ dream companies and was so successful we ran out almost immediately.
